About Ratscallions
Ratscallions is a rescue organisation that is currently not taking rats. You
can view rats for rehoming at rescues that we work with, on the 'Boys' and
'Girls' pages.
Ratcallions is here as a source of information, help, and support for
rescues, and those seeking advice or information regarding rats, or the rehoming
of their own rats. In no way do we claim to know everything; however, what we do
not know we can research.
The resources section of the site is intended to help both those just
starting up a new rescue, and anyone who wishes to have rat information to hand
at the touch of a button (nb, 'print').
Since Ratscallions is no longer operating as an active rescue itself, any
donations made through this website will automatically go to
MNM Rescue in
Telford.
Crisis
Mike and Amanda Hannah from
MnM
Rescue, Telford is completely inundated
with rats. In conjunction with the RSPCA they rescued 124 rats from atrocious
circumstances. Many of these rats require medical attention. Many appear to be
pregnant. When they arrived most of them were nervous and shy of people. It's
going to take a bit of work to prepare all of these guys for homes, and then a
lot of work to find those homes.
So, if anyone wants to know how to help, the best thing to
do is contact
Mike and Manda. Things they might find useful:
- cages
- cage furniture; including hammocks, water bottles, hammocks,
toys, etc.
- bedding
- food
- money is needed; inevitably there will be vet bills in the near future
- if you think you may be able to offer transport when the time comes for
rats to be rehomed please let
them know
- if you think you'd like to offer a home to some of
these rats definitely contact
Mike and Manda, even if you're not local, as transport can sometimes be
arranged.
- just raising awareness of the
situation among rat lovers is useful, so tell all your friends!
